My name is Umair Ahmad, and I started GoWellza because I got tired of health advice that felt impossible to actually follow.
A few years ago, I was in a routine I hated. I was sleeping badly, eating whatever was convenient, skipping exercise for weeks at a time, and spending the first hour of every morning glued to my phone feeling anxious before the day had even started. I knew what I was supposed to do — everyone does. The information was everywhere. What I couldn’t figure out was why it was so hard to actually do it consistently.
So I started testing things on myself. Small experiments. No phone for the first hour of the morning. Walking 30 minutes every day for 10 days. Changing what I ate for breakfast. Tracking my sleep. I kept notes on what actually changed and what didn’t, what felt sustainable and what felt like punishment.
That process — testing simple habits, being honest about what worked and what was harder than expected — is what GoWellza is built on.
What I Write About
GoWellza covers five areas that I write about from direct personal experience:
Health & Fitness — Practical movement habits you can build into a normal day, whether you have gym access or not. I write about what I’ve actually tried, including what felt difficult and what surprised me.
Diet & Nutrition — Not extreme diets or complicated meal plans. Simple, sustainable changes to how you eat that are based on real nutritional research and things I’ve tested myself.
Weight Management — Honest, realistic information about what actually drives weight change and what doesn’t. I don’t promote quick fixes or make promises that aren’t backed by research.
Mental Health & Focus — Practical techniques for managing overthinking, building focus, reducing stress, and starting the day with intention rather than anxiety. Mental health is as important as physical health, and I treat it that way.
Lifestyle Habits — The small daily decisions — sleep, hydration, screen time, morning routines — that add up to feeling significantly better or worse over time.
How I Research and Write
Every article on GoWellza is written from one of two places: personal experience (things I’ve actually done and tracked) or research from credible sources including the World Health Organization, National Institutes of Health, Harvard Medical School, and peer-reviewed publications.
I don’t publish advice I haven’t thought through carefully. When I write a personal experience article, I take notes during the experiment, not after. When I write a research-based article, I link to the original sources so you can read them yourself.
I am not a doctor or a licensed nutritionist. GoWellza is not a substitute for medical advice — you will see that clearly stated in our Disclaimer. What I am is someone who has spent years reading health research seriously, testing habits on himself, and writing about what he finds in plain language that’s actually useful.
Why I Started GoWellza
The honest answer is that I couldn’t find the kind of health content I actually wanted to read.
Most health websites either feel like they were written by a committee trying to avoid saying anything specific, or they’re full of dramatic promises that fall apart the moment you look for the evidence behind them. I wanted something different — a site written by a real person, about things they had actually done, in language that didn’t require a medical degree or feel like homework.
That’s what I’m trying to build with GoWellza. Simple. Honest. Actually useful.
